The Judgment of the Law

In a culture that emphasizes God’s justice for us, the first two chapters of Romans have emphasized God’s justice against us. But why? Even if we can understand why God judges those who received His law and failed to keep it, why would He judge those who never received it? Listen as Pastor Josh explains how the existence of Natural Law ensures that everyone is accountable before God.

How God Will Judge Us

If you ask a non-Christian why he believes he’ll go to heaven, he’ll likely say that it’s because he’s a good person. If you ask a Christian why she believes she’ll go to heaven, she’ll likely say that it’s because she believes in Jesus. In this text, the Apostle Paul tells us that the answer lies somewhere in between: faith in Jesus that produces good works is the only true basis for the assurance of salvation. Listen as Pastor Josh explains.

What Judgment Looks Like

What do you imagine when you think about divine judgment? Do you think about natural disasters? Warfare and destruction? Eternal gloom and misery? While the Bible teaches that God’s judgment can and will look like those things, it can also look like divine withdrawal. God can judge a society by leaving it to do what it wants. Listen as Pastor Josh explains.

Why We Need Salvation

The book of Romans tells us that the gospel is the power of God for salvation. But what are we saved from? Are we saved from feeling empty, like a therapist might say? Are we saved from suffering, like a prosperity gospel teacher might say? Or are we saved from the destructive effects of sin, like many popular pastors might say? Listen as Pastor Josh explains the Bible’s answer and the difference it makes to our lives.
